Ignite your imagination during Science Week

Be ready to ignite your imagination during Science week.

Science Week is Australia’s largest annual celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), held from 13 to 21 August 2022. This year’s theme is ‘Glass: More than meets the eye’.

Science Week encourages students to explore and discover the role glass plays in our lives, from using powerful telescopes to see stars and planets; new and unexpected ways glass is used to build a more sustainable future; participate in community field walks that form part of this year’s Sydney’s Science Trail.

National Science Week also acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first scientists, makers and innovators of this land. A number of events showcase Indigenous Knowledge systems containing a wealth of scientific information and contribute significantly to STEM research in Australia.

Encourage your child to participate and explore Science Week activities this week at school, your local library, or have a look at National Science Week to find out about more events in your region.

Don’t forget to visit our Everyday Maths Hub for fun ideas and activities you can do with your child!
